Murder at the Manor: A 1920s Night of Dinner, Drama & Delicious Crime

If you’re the sort of person who enjoys a perfectly cooked dinner, a stiff cocktail, and the occasional unexplained death before pudding… then Friday 25th September should be firmly circled in red on your calendar.

This autumn, the BFS Club in Bere Ferrers is throwing open its doors for Murder at the Manor — a glamorous 1920s murder mystery dining experience brought to you by the Belinda O’Flynn Theatre Group. Think flapper dresses, sharp suits, feathered headbands, and just enough intrigue to keep the Inspector busy all evening.

What’s on the menu? (Apart from murder)

Guests will enjoy:

  • A delicious three-course dinner
  • Live murder mystery entertainment
  • The chance to solve the crime (or at least look fabulous while failing to)
  • A prize for the best costume

All for just £25 per person.

Doors open at 6:30pm, dinner is served at 7:15pm, and the first body is expected sometime between the starter and the main course. Fashionably late, of course.

Dress code: 1920s Glamour

This is not a night for jeans. We’re encouraging full 1920s glamour — think Great Gatsby meets Cluedo. Flapper dresses, tuxedos, pearls, feather boas, and anything that would make Aunt Agatha raise an eyebrow are all warmly welcomed. There will be a prize for the best-dressed guest, so make an effort. It’s to die for.

Why you shouldn’t miss it

Murder mystery dinners are one of those rare events that manage to be genuinely fun for almost everyone: the theatrical types, the foodies, the competitive sleuths, and the people who just want an excellent night out with friends. You’ll leave well-fed, slightly tipsy, thoroughly entertained, and possibly a little suspicious of the person sitting opposite you.

Places are limited and tables of 6–10 are preferred, so early booking is strongly recommended. Once the Inspector arrives, it’s too late.
